St. John's Health MinuteSo are you burned out at work? If toxic co-workers and killer deadlines sound all too familiar, you could be putting your health at risk. Literally, your job could be making you sick. When your brain perceives stress, you get an elevation of stress hormones – increasing the concentration in the blood. Now, we all handle stress differently, so while one person will respond panic attacks another may get headaches. But the end result is the same, adverse effects on our body. Stress can raise cholesterol levels, or raise your blood sugar levels. Even if you don't suffer a severe illness from work-related stress, it can leave you feeling fatigued and run-down, or anxiety-ridden.

Here’s some good news for students, school will be out soon. But for parents, that means more activities and summer sports will be here before you know it. To help you out, St. John’s Sportcare is offering FREE sports physicals tomorrow, May 15th from 5-8:30 p.m. at our Workpartners location. For more information or to sign up, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000 or log onto stj.com.
