Forget plastic surgery and expensive creams, you can have great natural skin without leaving the house. Experts say the fountain of youth is just sitting in your kitchen. So which foods will help? Start with a green salad (and dressing out of olive oil and lemon juice.) Then go for the omega-3 fatty acids with broiled salmon or another cold water fish such as tuna. And for dessert, go for strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Just stick to low carbohydrates and sugars. And remember to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated.
Although 10 million men and women have osteoporosis, relatively few people have been diagnosed or treated. Osteoporosis is often called a “silent disease” because there are no symptoms: you can’t feel your bones becoming weak. But a simple bone density test can tell you about your risks. St. John’s provides FREE bone density screenings throughout the year. For more information or to register for our next session, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000 or log onto stj.com.
