You’ve heard the advise, in order to lose weight you need to diet, but don’t forget to include exercise. A new study suggests overweight dieters who cut calories but don't exercise lose more than weight -- they lose bone mass. Researchers say the dieters in the study lost bone mass in the areas where elderly people are most likely to suffer fractures: their spines, their hips, and their upper legs. Doctors say calorie restriction is beneficial, but if you don't combine it with exercise you’ll lose bone. So if you change your diet and exercise at the same time, it is a win/win situation.
