Chances are you had a big morning with the kids, opening all the gifts from Santa. So now what happens? For most parents, it’s a time to supervise as the kids learn how to use their new toys and realize the hard way that their shiny new bike was not made to go down that hill so fast. Emergency room doctors see it every year, new toys and kids wanting to test the limits. So the message this year….avoid a trip to the ER by monitoring your kids and teach them the correct way to use their new toys.

And I know it may be tough to bring the kids in to eat, but they do need to eat a healthy meal and not just fill up on all those holiday cookies. So plan a break in the day and bring them inside for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a fruit of their choosing and a nice tall glass of milk. Just like the one you left for Santa. If you make eating a fun experience, kids will enjoy it more and make it so much easier for you. And who knows, maybe you’ll be able to get a nap in once in a while.

From all of us at St. John’s, we wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
