If you’re still following your new years resolution to exercise and get fit, then give your self a pat on the back and remember this. Nothing quells the appetite like water, lots and lots of water. Start out with two quart bottles in the morning and carry one with you to work or wherever you go. If you like, divvy up the 64 ounces of water into 8-ounce bottles. Water not only fills you up and lessens your appetite, it prevents those "hungry horrors" we all encounter when our blood sugar drops and we reach for cookies, candy, ice cream, fries or other high-calorie treats. Water also flushes out the system, rids the body of bloat and toxins and helps the complexion. So drink up!
As we start National Heart Month, there’s something you should consider. It’s estimated that one in three Americans has high blood pressure. But about a third of us don’t know it. If you’re concerned about your risk, get your blood pressure taken by a professional who can also answer any questions you may have. St. John’s Health Connection at Northpark Mall offers FREE blood pressures every Wednesday. For more info, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000.
