Diet : Cranberries & UTI
If you’ve ever had a urinary tract infection, you were probably advised to drink cranberry juice. Did it really help? Well, a recent study confirms that cranberry juice can actually prevent UTIs. That’s good news because at least one third of women who get one infection will get another, or perhaps more. In the study, researchers followed about 150 women who had a previous UTI. One third of the women drank cranberry juice each day. After six months, the juice drinkers had a 20 percent lower risk of getting another infection. Cranberries are also a good source of vitamin C and potassium and retain their nutritional value even when dried, frozen or pasteurized in juice.
