Heart Health : Signs of a Heart Attack
How do you know if you’re having a heart attack? Chest pain related to your heart is often described as a sensation of tightness, or crushing pain at the center of the chest. It can sometimes feel like heartburn. The pain may spread to the jaw, neck, shoulders and arms. Other possible signs of heart attack include: shortness of breath, dizziness or light-headedness, cold sweat, nausea or vomiting and fatigue or weakness. If chest pain lasts longer than a few minutes, especially if it’s accompanied by any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately. St. John’s has been leading the way in cardiovascular care in the four-state area since 1981.
