If you're like me, you probably wish that there was a way for you to lose weight without having to put in much effort, right? Everyone knows the importance of exercise and how it helps us with weight loss, but on some days don't we all wish we can just sleep in bed and lose weight at the same time? Well, I've got some great news for you. Sleep is a critical part of your weight loss program! It's the lack of sleep that can make you put on unnecessary weight. You may actually lose more weight if only you were to sleep more every day. So next time, hit that snooze button again!
Here's something you don't want to hear, a restricted calorie diet can help the heart age more slowly. It's true. A recent study compared those who ate less than 2,000 calories a day to those who consumed up to 3,000 calories on average. The result: Those limiting caloric intake had the heart functions of much younger people - typically about 15 years younger than their age. If you want to know more about your heart, mark your calendar. St. John's will be holding a "Matters of the heart" health fair on February 10th where you can talk one-on-one with some of our doctors and nurses. For more info call St. John's Referral One at 625-2000.
