St. John's Health MinuteWith cold and flu season in full swing, parents who pay attention to hygiene and nutrition can boost the odds that their children will stay healthy -- or at least healthier than last year. The most important thing is to remind kids to wash their hands frequently. Germ-laden hands are the most common source of bacteria, and frequent hand-washing will reduce the number of colds and infections. Another way to protect your kids is with annual flu shots, which are still available at our Expresscare locations.

With our hectic lives, sometimes it's hard to get to sleep, or stay asleep. It’s estimated, 70 million Americans experience some degree of sleeplessness every year. Doctors say there are four things you can do to help you catch your zzz’s. First, go to sleep at the same time every night. Exercise regularly, and at least three hours before bed. Avoid caffeine late in the day. And if you have trouble falling asleep after 15 minutes, get up and read or watch TV until you feel sleepy.
