St. John's Health MinuteAmerica's "couch potatoes" are still reclining. A new study claims most Americans don't break enough of a sweat when it comes to exercise. Only 45 percent of those aged 18 and over met the U.S. government's recommendation of at least 30 minutes of brisk walking or other moderate exercise five days a week or at least 20 minutes of vigorous exercise three days a week.

So maybe that New Year’s resolution to exercise isn’t a bad idea. After all, about one half of U.S. adults are considered overweight and about one-fifth obese.

One thing you can do to monitor your health is get your blood pressure checked regularly. If you don’t know what it is, chances are, it’s been too long. So St. John’s has made it easy for you.
