St. John's Health MinuteIf you could make just one change in your lifestyle or diet to lower your risk of cancer and improve your overall health, what would you choose? Nutrition experts say exercise should be one of the top picks and doctors agree. They recommend you start the day with 30 to 60 minutes of exercise. It’s been proven that people who exercise are at much lower risk for breast cancer and colon cancer compared to sedentary people.

And here are some tips when it comes to your diet. Snacks are a great way to refuel. Choose snacks from different food groups - a glass of low-fat milk and a few graham crackers, an apple or celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins, or dry cereal. If you eat smart at other meals, cookies, chips and candy are OK for occasional snacking. Just remember if you want to lose weight you must consume fewer calories than you burn in a day.
