Medicine : Drug Expiration Dates
Have you ever bought a new bottle of medication, and when you only had a few left in the old bottle, just mixed the two together? Well, that may not be the best idea. That’s because even medications expire. The Food and Drug Administration requires that drugs carry an expiration date that is based on tests the manufacturer conducts to determine how long the compound maintains its safety, purity and potency. You have to keep in mind, though, that the product’s expiration date is only guaranteed as long as you store the medication properly. Both prescription and over-the-counter medications have expiration dates and you should know that date before you take any medication. If you have any questions about your medications, you should always talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
