Home Health : Sun Protection
The weather is warming up, pools are open for business and many of us may have already experienced our first sunburn of the season. When you head out this summer, don’t forget to grab the sunscreen. It’s especially important for younger people to protect themselves from the sun’s rays because the damage to skin at a younger age has lasting affects into adulthood. A severe sunburn at a young age can increase risk for skin cancer later in life. While many sunscreens claim to be waterproof, remember that you should reapply after you swim or if you have been sweating. It’s better to use too much than not enough. And, don’t forget your eyes. We often forget about the damaging effects the sun’s direct rays or reflection have on our eyes.
