Diabetes : Fruits & Veggies
Do you eat your fruits and veggies? There may be evidence that if you do, you might reduce your risk for diabetes. Researchers looked at vitamin C levels from nearly 20,000 middle aged men and women. They looked at vitamin C because it’s a good indicator of the amount of fruits and vegetables in the diet. After 12 years, only about three percent of the group had developed diabetes. Higher vitamin C levels were linked with lower risk. In fact, those who had the highest levels of vitamin C had a 62 percent lower diabetes risk. If you would like to have your blood sugar checked, now’s your chance.
