Skin Health : Sun Protection
Keeping your skin healthy and cancer-free seems relatively easy. But, most people only think about it when they head out to the pool or boat. It’s easy to forget about sun protection when the weather is pleasant and you’re outside for your job. Some of those jobs include landscapers or gardeners, farmers, mail carriers and drivers. Remember that vehicle windows don’t stop UV rays. So, what’s the answer? Wear a wide-brimmed hat that blocks the sun’s rays from your face, ears and neck. Seek shade when you can through the day. Slather on the sunscreen with SPF of at least 15, even if it’s cloudy or hazy. Buy wrap-around sunglasses with a label that says they protect against UVA and UVB rays. Don’t forget that the times the sun is the strongest is between 10 am and 4 pm. For more information, call St. John’s Referral One at 625.2000 or visit stj.com.
