Did you know that today is the day to thank your doctor? It’s National Doctor’s Day. You may also want to call and schedule an appointment after you hear this. At least 36% of baby boomers have some sort of cardiovascular disease! And according to the CDC, more than 60% of the population is either overweight or obese. Experts say that's bad news for heart health nationwide. Overall, it's a constellation of risks that threaten our heart health most: a combination of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and high blood sugar.
Here’s a great chance to get out and talk to your doctor without an apppointment. St. John’s docs will be out at our Life Fair that begins tomorrow at 8 am. They will be speaking on a number of topics, including diabetes, ADHD, heart disease, depression and more. And don’t forget that our featured guest speaker, diet and health expert Richard Simmons will be taking the stage at 1:15 for an interactive session. So plan on getting up and moving to St. John’s Life Fair tomorrow at the Leggett & Platt Athletic center on the Campus of MSSU. And for a complete list of health talks at this year’s Life Fair, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000 or log onto stj.com.
