St. John's Health MinuteOver the holidays, we all feel a little stress. Even if it’s just a small amount, it could weigh heavy on your eating habits. A person who is under stress tends to skip meals, eat on the run, overeat and fill up on junk food. That is counter-productive and bound to lead eventually to weight gain and health problems. A better approach is to focus on low-fat foods such as a handful of pretzels. Researchers say this can boost the production of serotonin, a hormone that tends to reduce feelings of stress and depression.

Here’s a sensitive subject. Urinary incontinence. It’s an embarrassing condition for nearly 11 million women in the United States, but there is help out there. St. John’s is holding a health talk on the subject, and will even discuss treatment options, including a new procedure in the area. So mark this on your calendar. The talk is set for this Thursday, November 30th at 5:30 p.m. in St. John`s Conference Center. For more information or to sign up, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000 or log onto stj.com.
