OK – I don’t mean to spoil that Thanksgiving dinner, but here are some facts you should know before you over-indulge. On average, the traditional Thanksgiving dinner is about 3500 calories, almost double what you should consume in an entire day. And to burn it all off, you'll have to walk 30 miles, run four hours, or swim five hours.

For some, they worry more about how their stomach feels after the big meal. Believe it or not, you can take care of your stomach and help it recover. One of the most effective herbs for stomach protection is licorice root, which can be taken as a tea. This sweet-tasting herb contains substances that protect the lining of the stomach and have been shown in several studies to help heal ulcers. The tea is fine for occasional use, but go easy: Frequent use of pure licorice root can contribute to sodium and water retention, hypertension, and other effects.
