Safety : Halloween Safety
Halloween is a fun time for a lot of kids. But, you want to make sure that when your trick-or-treaters hit the streets this year they’ll be safe. According to safekids.org, Halloween is one of the most dangerous days of the year for child pedestrians. Kids are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car on Halloween than the rest of the year. Here are some ways to help keep kids safe this Halloween. Buy costumes that don’t have masks that can impede vision. Face paint may be a better option so kids can see where they’re going. Give kids flashlights or glow sticks to carry so they are easily seen. Make sure costumes have some type of reflective material or tape on them. Only walk on well-lit streets and sidewalks and only visit homes with lights on. For more information, call St. John’s Referral One at 625.2000 or visit stj.com.
