Sizes for everything from bananas to soft drinks have gotten larger in the past 20 years. It’s not enough to eat the right kinds of food to maintain a healthy weight or to lose weight. Eating the right amount of food at each meal is just as important. A serving is a specific amount of food, and it might be smaller than you realize. For example, a serving of meat is two to three ounces, or roughly the size of the palm of your hand, or a deck of cards. A serving of chopped vegetables or fruit is 1/2 cup, or approximately half a baseball and a serving of peanut butter is two tablespoons, only about the size of a golf ball, not the whole jar.
Do you know a women who could use a day of pampering. If so they need to attend the St. John's SportsCare Mind, Body and Soul Retreat on April 19th from 9 to 1. It’ll be held at Carl Junction’s United Methodist Church. We will highlight women’s health issues, provide screenings, and share wonderful ways women can pamper themselves. Pre-registration is required so sign up now! Just call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000 or log onto stj.com.
