Detecting Breast Cancer - 7/16/2008

Chances are we all know someone diagnosed with breast cancer. It may be a family member, friend or even a celebrity, you’d like to know. Doctors admit, mammograms aren't perfect, but they're still the best tool we have for detecting breast cancer in its early -- and most curable and treatable -- stages. As for those who have an excuse for everything, you can’t use the excuse that you can’t afford it. That’s because many health care centers, including St. John’s offer free or low-cost mammograms to women who can't afford them or do not have health insurance.

Here’s some important information about an upcoming screening. St. John’s has moved our foot screening for children. So mark it on your calendar now. The FREE foot screening is now scheduled for Saturday, July 26h from 10-noon. It’s for children 5 and older. Registration is required, so call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000 or log onto stj.com.
