Believe it or not, sleep is as important to your help as water and food. Most adults need around seven to eight hours of sleep a night. When you can’t get a good night’s rest, the problem may be bad sleep habits. So here are some tricks to catch your zzz’s. First, hit the sack and get up around the same time every day. Exercise for at least 30 minutes each day and at least two to three hours before bed. Avoid caffeine after lunch. And build a before bedtime routine. Take a bath, read or put on your favorite pj’s. And finally, avoid alcohol. It may help you slip into a light sleep, but it won’t let you get the deep sleep you need.
If you want to learn more about sleep disorders, plan on attending St. John’s Life Fair set for this Saturday from 8-noon at the Leggett & Platt athletic center on the campus of MSSU. We’ll have health talks on a variety of subjects and it’s all free to the public. For more info on the Life Fair, just log onto stj.com.
