Some of the tastiest and healthful fruits you may never have heard of -- from star fruit to guava and papaya -- are making their way to your grocery store. And these vitamin-rich tropical fruits are good for you. For instance, papaya comes in with just 118 calories, lots of vitamin C, and a good source of folate and potassium. And what about a kiwi? With only 70 calories, kiwis are a great source of potassium and fiber, with twice the vitamin C of an orange. And finally that strange shaped star fruit. Each fruit contains 40 calories and is a great source of vitamin C. Wash, slice, and eat the entire star-shaped treat -- there’s no need to peel or seed it. However, be warned, people with kidney problems should NOT eat star fruit.
It’s that time of year, we all try to fit into last year’s swimsuit and we realize, maybe we should have exercised more. Well St. John’s is here to help with a great health talk, "Get a Kick Out of Life: How Much Exercise do you Need?" The talk is set for Tuesday, June 10th at 5:30 pm at our Health Connection location inside Northpark mall. For more information, call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000 or log onto stj.com.
