If you’re trying to lose weight, listen up. All you need might be an extra hour of sleep. Think I’m crazy, listen to this. A new report claims you can lose up to 14 pounds a year just by adding an extra hour of sleep. The reason, we tend to eat when we’re awake and inactive. But when you’re asleep, you actually burn about 147 calories an hour, and over time, that adds up. So the next time you want to reach for a midnight snack, head to bed instead and you’ll be on your way to losing 14 pounds a year.
Fall is here and so is the flu. So to get you ready, St. John’s is planning a drive-by flu shot clinic. Nearly everyone benefits from having a seasonal flu shot, and the CDC highly recommends a yearly shot for persons at higher than average risk. These include adults age 50 and over, children aged 6 to 59 months, pregnant women, persons with chronic medical conditions and individuals who live or work with such persons. St. John’s drive-by flu shot clinic is set for Tuesday, October 30th. It’ll all take place on St. John’s blvd, on our campus, starting at 7 am. The cost is just $10.
