Since fall is here, you’ll be seeing more of the color orange around. Just make sure you don’t forget to put it on your dinner table as well. The bright orange color of pumpkin, sweet potato and winter squash is a sign that these foods contain high levels of beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A and a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory substance. Studies have indicated that persons eating a diet rich in beta-carotene have a reduced risk of heart disease, some cancers and degenerative diseases such as arthritis.

With the cooler weather settling in, the flu will be here before you know it. And now is the time to protect yourself. St. John’s is here to help with our annual drive-by flu shots.
