You’ve probably heard about the protective benefits alcohol can provide against cardiovascular disease. But new research shows that excessive drinking raises the risk of cancer of the mouth, larynx, oesophagus, liver, colon and breast. It may also be linked with cancer of the pancreas and lung. So the key is don’t give up alcohol completely, just drink moderately.
With our hectic lives, sometimes it's hard to get to sleep, or stay asleep. It’s estimated, 70 million Americans experience some degree of sleeplessness every year. Doctors say there are four things you can do to help you catch your zzz’s. First, go to sleep at the same time every night. Exercise regularly, and at least three hours before bed. Avoid caffeine late in the day. And if you have trouble falling asleep after 15 minutes, get up and read or watch TV until you feel sleepy.
