9/10/2008 - Children & Caffeine
OK – so you’ve given in and let your child have a sip of your morning java here and there, can it be all that bad? The answer is YES. Experts say, it’s best to avoid caffeinated drinks altogether before age 6. After that, an occasional treat is OK. But here are some things to keep in mind. Caffeine has a greater effect on kids because they’re smaller and their metabolisms are faster. And if your little one won’t back down, offer tea instead. Black tea has about half the caffeine as coffee, and green tea has even less.
This summer did you watch your sun exposure and wear sunscreen? Chances are you may have gotten a little too much sun at least once and over your lifetime, it adds up. So look at your skin closely and if you have a spot you think needs to be looked at, mark this on your calendar. St. John’s will be providing FREE skin screenings with Dr. Towery next Friday September 19th, from 1:00-4:00 at St. John`s Health Connection at Northpark Mall. Registration is required so call St. John’s Referral One at 625-2000 or log onto stj.com.
